TROY VON BALTHAZAR

Troy Von Balthazar performance

All alone. Troy von Balthazar (TvB), born out of his former band Chokebore’s mystic thunder, has become somewhat of an infamous ascetic, as the name of his previous album “How To Live on Nothing” already insinuates. But TvB (multi-instrumentalist, poet and composer) nowadays answers that “nothing” with a belligerent “Something!”.

“Knights of Something” is TvB’s fourth solo-album and his first New High Recordings.

BRETT NETSON

The Scavenger Cult EP Out Now!

Brett Netson’s captivating new EP The Scavenger Cult is available on 12″ vinyl now via New High Recordings and will be available on cassette in July 2016.  Netson is a member of the acclaimed band Built To Spill and has toured with the likes of Mark Lanegan, Bob Forrest’s Bicycle Thief and his own band Caustic Resin.

The Scavenger Cult EP features three glorious, sprawling anthems created with drummer Steve Gere (Uzala, Built To Spill), stereo bass contributions from Ian Waters (Kid Cordiroy, Boise Cover Band) and Josh Galloway (Cerberus Rex), with additional bass, synth contributions and all guitar and vocals courtesy of Netson. Recorded on 2” 16-track tape with Jason Ringelstetter at Tonic Room in Boise, Idaho, mixed to 1/2″ tape by Steve Lobdell at Audible Alchemy in Portland, Oregon with analog mastering at Salt Mastering in Brooklyn, New York, the Scavenger Cult EP is not good-time rock and roll, although it speaks the same language. The roots are there… ‘70s rock, metal and punk, psychedelics and garage rock, space rock, drone and thud, blues…

RT N’ THE 44s

RT N’ THE 44s are a Folk Noir Country band created by singer/songwriter RT Valine. Founded in 2009, the band originated in Los Angeles, CA . Using instruments crafted from tin, 2x4s and salvaged parts, RT has stated that RT N’ THE 44s was born out of “an attempt to make listenable music from junk”. They have been described as a “vintage country band with dark obsessions”. The band is often seen busking at various locations throughout Los Angeles – in the tradition of Woody Guthrie and Cisco Houston. As members of the New LA Folkfest, the band has performed with T-Model Ford, Tom Brosseau, John C. Reilly, and Red Simpson, among other notable acts. RT N’ THE 44s performs annually at The Roots Roadhouse Festival and Autry National Center.
